Meet Your Neighbor: Kenny Larson

Kenny Larson, 26, lives in Midland. He is engaged to Zak Schultz. Their goal is to get married in the fall of 2022.

Zak is a real estate agent working in the Bay of the Great Lakes region. They met at the now closed “The Mixx Night Club”, a gay bar in the old town of Saginaw.

Kenny graduated from HH Dow High School. He obtained a certificate in hotel management from the University of Northwood. Her parents are Melanie and Ken Larson. Kenny has two brothers and two sisters.

1. How long have you lived in Midland?

Every 26 years.

2. What is your profession and why?

Assistant hotel manager at the Sleep Inn, two and a half years old. It is (a field of work) that I started doing in 2013. It corresponds to my education. I like to meet new people who come to the area for different events.

3. What are some of your interests and hobbies?

I am big on boating. I have a boat. Do some fishing. Cycling, golf. I like the city center … I live downtown. I like going to the Farmers Market, Tunes by the Tridge. I’m going to work with my dad there to make some concessions. He’s a regional manager at Domino’s, so we’re going to sell pizza.

4. What are your favorite things to do in Midland?

One of the most important things was to go to Sanford Lake. Now we go to Bay City more often. We love going to the movies at NCG. Also go to Valley Lanes. We love the various bars and restaurants on Main Street. You can walk there.

5. What do you like about living in Midland?

I like the community and the security. It really is a great neighborhood for families. It’s a really clean city. In the summer, I love everything that happens – Riverdays, the Farmers Market, the fair.

6. What message would you like to send to the community?

I think Midland is becoming more welcoming with different categories of people, like with Great Lakes Bay Pride. As a member of the LGBTQ community, it’s great to see, especially in this month of PRIDE.
