Veriu Group officials, including CEO Zed Sanjana, have joined developer Panthera Group and Maitland Mayor Philip Penfold to transform the first lawns of the company’s first Punthill property in the New Wales region of South.
Sanjana said the announcement was enthusiastically received by residents of Maitland, with the new Punthill Maitland being the first hotel brand set to open in the town in over a decade.
He said the development also kicks off the Veriu Group’s ambitious expansion plan to roll out Punthill’s successful hotel apartment accommodation model across the NSW region, with a number of other regional openings planned for the coming years.
The arrival of the Victoria-based operator is expected to provide a welcome boost to the tourism industry in the Hunter Valley, which is currently experiencing a post-pandemic traveler upsurge.
Construction on Punthill Maitland is now underway, with the property due to open in late 2023.
Sanjana said the 76-key apartment hotel is located in the heart of Maitland’s High Street shopping center and will include conference facilities, a gymnasium and cafe, and will cater to both the travel market of and leisure.
An innovator in boutique hotels and micro-apartments, Veriu Group also announced last week the opening of its first Sydney Punthill property, Punthill Norwest, in the bustling business district of Norwest, following the takeover of an existing Adina hotel.
Sanjana said further announcements regarding the opening of new Punthill apartment hotels at various sites across the NSW metropolitan and regional area are expected from Veriu Group in the coming weeks.
