Nine finalists have been selected by the judges as shortlisted candidates to win the third annual Paul Davis Hotel Design Award at the 2021 Design Inn and AHICE in Adelaide next month.
The awards – for new construction properties and renovations – recognize outstanding projects that demonstrate design innovation, a commitment to sustainable design practices, and deliver an exceptional customer experience.
For 2021, the award has been expanded, with two accolades for ‘Best New Build Hotel Design’ and ‘Best Renovation in Australasia’. Dozens of submissions were received from interior designers and architects at the highest level of hospitality, tourism and hospitality in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific , with many applications of exceptional quality received.
When judging, the price will take into account:
Concept design – Conceptual response to the brief
A function – Space planning and functional performance assessed against the brief
Impact – A design that impresses clients / clients / the travel industry
Disciplines – Design uses skills from various design disciplines, such as lighting, sound and / or color
Durability – Design uses sustainable design in purchasing and operations
Judges for the 2021 Paul Davis Hotel Design Award include GHDWoodhead National Practice Leader Leone Lorrimer and Design Assembly Director Paul Wiste.
